Ever wondered if you can dump a high-paying job from a Big 4 company when you find an opportunity that no one else has found out about yet? Feels risky? But that’s what Abhishek Gupta, the former EY Americas Commercial Assurance Leader, did. He quit his role from EY in 2021 when he found a golden opportunity hidden under plain sight.

Abhishek Gupta joined the Ernst and Young company - which is renowned for being one of the Big 4 companies - as the Americas Commercial Leader for Assurance in 2011. Throughout the years, he grew his initial team of 40 members to nearly more than 2,000 today. Despite his success, Gupta began to feel stagnant with the corporate world. That is when he began to look for other untapped opportunities and succeeded in finding an unnoticed golden egg. He resigned from his job in 2021 and began his own start-up company called Pierag.
Chapter 1 – The beginning:
In 2018 Gupta found a market inefficiency for U.S CPA firms, which had no ability to deliver services from other countries. Only a few large businesses like EY GDS were able to offer such offshore delivery capabilities.
So, he decided to offer efficient and high-quality consulting support for the other high-performing companies that were looking forward to extending their services offshore.
After leaving his Job in 2021 and starting his own consulting firm, he started to look for clients. But unfortunately, they didn’t get a single client for the first three months and when he started to question himself whether he had misread the market trends, suddenly, they got their first client with an unexpected requirement in the domain of risk. Since completing their first client’s request they have got more and more clients and by the end of the first year they have grown from a 5-member team to a 40-member team.
Chapter 2 – The path to success
The pivotal moment that guaranteed their path to success was when one of the top 10 Global Accounting Firm – Baker Tilly – collaborated with them forming a joint venture that resulted in gaining larger client groups for them.
This partnership changed their company’s image from an emerging novice team to a trusted name in consulting.

Today, many top companies have tied up collaborations with Pierag and their client base keeps growing day-by-day.
After their successful business venture in US and India, Pierag now plans to expand their services to Uk, Australia and middle east countries.
